The opening sessions of this year's GEOINT Conference had a running theme: the need for new, well trained workers to fill open jobs within the industry. The need was echoed by all the morning speakers in particular, Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Md, who wants to make a "local push" for geo-education. Editor in Chief Joe Francica attended the sessions and swaps ideas with Adena Schutzberg about how to get young people involved in science, technology and geospatial technologies for GEOINT.

NGA has Stokes Program scholarship program -- www.usajobs.opm.gov

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has four openings for high-achieving students interested in pursuing a career as an analyst. NGA provides Stokes Program Student Hires with a professional work experience in a learning environment, tuition assistance, and a guaranteed position upon graduation. Stokes Program Student Hires will be placed in the Analysis & Production Directorate at one of NGA's core sites of employment in St. Louis, MO, or Bethesda, MD, but opportunities may also available within the Washington DC metro area, as well as Denver, CO. Minorities, women and the disabled needing financial assistance to complete their undergraduate education are strongly encouraged to apply.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also has great intern program -- have to be on the look out for them.

An "ROTC" program for Geoint is an excellent suggestion!!! I am all for that -- since my son "the map geek" will be graduating in 10 years.
