Ryan Mitchell - Chief Writer & Editor

Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Wisconsin and later completed a master’s degree in education at Worcester State University. His professional experience spans education, technical documentation, and corporate communications, with particular expertise in real-time computing systems, spatial data infrastructure, and geospatial standards.

In the later stages of his career, Ryan expanded his technical interests into blockchain systems and cryptocurrency infrastructure. Drawing on his background in spatial data and networked systems, he approached blockchain analysis with a structured, systems-oriented mindset—comparing transaction flows, data layers, and network behavior in ways similar to geospatial modeling. Over time, he developed a strong understanding of crypto platforms, on-chain data interpretation, and decentralized technologies, becoming a recognized voice at the intersection of geospatial thinking and blockchain analysis.

Although he formally retired from OGC in 2016, Ryan remains active as an independent expert, continuing to contribute insights on both geospatial technologies and emerging blockchain ecosystems.
